DVD legend Flash has been in contact about an issue surounding NEC's LabelFlash drives. The ND-4551, it would seem, ships with no software to make use of it's label printing abilities.
I'll let Flash take up the story: "Today I received my drive which has the same appearance as previous models with the addition of the DVD Multi symbol on the front of the tray. I am eager to try out this new technology and write to the burning surface of some of my DVDs and searched in vain for suitable supporting software. "Evidently there is a customised OEM version of Nero 6.6.1.3 which they intend to bundle with the retail version of the drive. "B’s Recorder Gold also has a customised version that bundled with the Japanese I-O Data brand, but it looks like it is only available in Japanese. "It looks like being February before any suitable software will be publicly released. "So it looks as if myself and many other eager users will have a disappointing Christmas thanks to NEC." |
