DVD Stops Bullet
Posted Feb 20, 2008 - 04:12 PM

Latest News An American man’s life has been saved by a DVD after it stopped a bullet for him.

Barry McRoy was leaving a fast food restaurant in Walterboro, a town in South Carolina, early on Saturday morning when two men entered struggling for control of a gun.

When the gun accidentally went off, the bullet hit one of the two fighting men before shattering a window and striking Mr McRoy, police said in a statement.

Despite suffering a bruise where the bullet had hit him, Mr McRoy, a Fire and Rescue Director for Colleton County Fire Service, did not notice that he had been shot.

How About That?
It wasn’t until later, as he gave a statement to a police officer outside the Waffle House eatery, that Mr McRoy spotted a bullet hole in his jacket.

Further investigation revealed a shattered DVD case and a piece of the bullet in his pocket.

"I was saved by a DVD," a relieved Mr McRoy told Associated Press. "How lucky can you get?"

One man was arrested on assault and battery and firearms charges after the incident.

The DVD, a gift from an employee who had recorded a show about fire extinguishers, suffered minor damage in the fracas.
