Datawrite Princo Budget 4x DVD-R<div align=center> I received a pack of these discs from Datawrite for testing and after seeing their picture on the Datawrite website I wasn�t impressed by the colour but now I have them in my hands I must say the picture on the Datawrite site does not do them justice. The colour is a dark salmon pink with a semi matt finish that is easy to write on. The printing on the disc is white and stands out well. The edges of the disc are smooth and clean cut and the dye is a light purple that is evenly distributed, I compared the dye side with the Datawrite Yellow and was hard pressed to notice any difference, the Yellows are the well known good budget priced 1x speed DVD-R media. Well that�s the visual impressions over, how good do they perform my test burn is a full movie 4.37gig burnt from title set with Record Now Max. The media was detected as 4x speed and burnt in just over 15mins. Playback is first tested in my Dansai 1010 DVD player which plays most media but tends to stick at the end with difficult media, playback was perfect right up to the end of the credits. The next playback test is in my Mustek DVD player which is even more selective with media, again no playback problems, Nero CD speed tests I use 2 DVD-ROM drives to test the media Samsing 616 and Liteon 163. The Samsung reader is comparable with the average DVD player and a smooth graph usually indicates good playback compatibility and as you can see from the graphs the curve cannot be any smoother, the Liteon is an older drive and easily falters on poor media and his gives an overall indication as to the quality of the burn. As you can see from the graphs the only one that falters is the 4.37 test movie starting to give read difficulty at 4.2gig but the read speed never went below 4x speed. This is typical with this drive and is not detrimental to the playback performance of the media I regard the tests done on the Samsung to be the best indication as to the playability and the Liteon to give the extreme readability conditions. I have burnt 5 discs so far and all of them showed perfect readability on my Samsung DVD reader and playback is perfect in all my DVD players. This is so far the cheapest 4x speed media on the market (Bulkpaq expect to beat this price but I doubt the quality) and from the first 5 burns I have done it is as good as the media being marketed at up to �1 a disc more, I have not yet compared any of the top of the range media being out of my price range and they have never sent me any samples to test.(Hint!
