The Crew>> NIL:, Gradius, depl0y, zaitec2 at The Firmware Page are really into hacking the firmware for the Pioneer A05. We now have 'Region Free', '2x for All', and now '12x Rip Speed' for DVD-Video.

So now you can view any region DVD, rip it at super fast speed and burn it twice as fast on standard 1x speed media.

Instructions:

1) Click on the download 'Pioneer A05 DVD-Video Speed Limit Removed' here.

2) Unzip and run the upgrade.bat file to apply the patch to your drive.

3) If you are not satisfied with the patch you can always revert back to the official firmware with this package 'Pioneer A05 v1.30 Downgrade Flash' also here.

The Crew are still working on a '4x for all' firmware to give us all the freedom of choice, but I personally doubt that much of the 1x media will burn satisfactory at 4x speed.
