Sanyo, Japan's third-largest consumer electronics maker, have said it plans to more than double its production capacity of DVD recorder pickups to 35 million units in the business year starting in April.
Sanyo said in a statement that its annual output capacity for DVD recorder pickups is about 15 million units in the current business year to March.
The company said it expects its output capacity for all optical pickups including those for DVD players to reach about 250 million units in 2004/05, compared with 200 million units in the current business year.
