Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair is to test a new a fee-based in-flight entertainment system.
Manufactured by US-based company Aircraft Protective Systems, the digEplayer 5500 is a portable DVD player weighing around 1.5kg and offering a screen the size of a paperback. It can store films, TV shows, cartoons and audio tracks.
The airline has agreed to test the player on five of its services from November 1, with passengers being offered the system for £5.
Ryanair said if the system proved successful the carrier would roll it out across its B737-800 fleet.
