Crackers have worked out a way of saving streamed movies from the Netflix service. The move basically kills off Microsoft’s copy protection technology designed to prevent people from saving the content.
According to Macworld the hack is part of an escalating technical war by hackers against DRM.
Netflix started a service called Watch Now that lets people watch movies and TV shows immediately on their computer. Hacker "Dizzie" published a 14-step system that includes the use of FairUse4WM to strip away Microsoft’s DRM.
The process is not fool proof and sometimes takes a couple of goes.
