Sky has expanded its online TV offering after adding six new live TV channels to its service.
"At Sky, viewers come first, whether they watch live or on-demand, via their TV or online," said Griff Parry, Sky's Director of On-demand content. "The continued expansion of Sky Player puts choice and control over what and how to watch, firmly in people's hands; whether they're already familiar with Sky TV or just want to watch the content we offer online."
Traditional television broadcasters are now starting to introduce more content online, in an attempt to give viewers better control over the content they watch -- and when they can watch it. They also are working harder to provide more on-demand content through their TV, which has been greatly appreciated by subscribers.
Although most TV broadcasters offer their content for free, Sky will instead add new channels to its new Sky Player TV subscription.
The Sky Movies Screen 1 and 2, Nat Geo Wild, Eden, G.O.L.D. and Sky Real Lives to the subscription-based Sky Player TV service online. Interested parties do not have to be a Sky subscriber, and it costs £15 per month to have a subscription.
In the United States, companies such as ABC, NBC, and several movie studios have moved their efforts online, with a growing emphasis on online content.
