The Second test between these high speed burners is to see how they perform with the RiDisc Xtreme 8X speed DVD-R media RITEKG05 mid code. This disc marks the beloved return of the much loved deep purple RITEKG05 dye, the top surface is described as red but I would prefer to say it is more of a maroon colour

Pioneer DVR-109 v1.17	NEC ND-3520A v1.04
The Pioneer DVR-109 has the same burning pattern as with other 8X speed media and although DVDInfoPro showed it to have 12x speed burning capability it did not happen in the burn process. The test burn took 8:25 and the title set burn took 8:45	Here we have the 3 tier burning pattern which is typical for this burner but we can see a drop in burning speed during the last 200meg of the burn. The test burn took 9:53 and the title set took 10:17
PI average 18 & peak of 56 is good results although the scan is not even the overhaul readings are low. Jitter is fairly steady with an average of 11.4 and PIF is very low peaking at a mere 3	PI an average of 60 peaking at just over 160 at the outer edge, this being high by my standards but well within acceptable limits . Jitter shows a sharp increase at the 4x - 6x speed transition and settles down at the 6x -8x speed transition with an overhaul average of 13.5%. PIF is low with just 3 minor spikes
Speed graph is a good graph with a minor glitch just over the 4 gig point but insufficient to be of any concern	A good graph up to 3.5 gig where there are some sharp dips in the speed of the scan and although they give cause for concern there were no read errors and no playback problems
These last two graphs represent the performance with an old 4x speed Pioneer DVR-106 burner
PI averaging 101 peaking at 168 & although higher than I like are well within acceptable limits. Jitter is stable at an average of 12.2% with PIF virtually none existent	Read speed shows a disappointing graph from about 2.5 gig although there are no reed errors and there was no problems in playback.

These discs produce good burns with the Pioneer 109 at 8x speed and produce acceptable burns with the NEC at 8x speed and at 4x speed with the DVR-106. although there are dips in the reading curve for the NEC and DVR-106 there are no apparent problems in playback. Playback compatibility is good amongst my range of DVD players and I do not hesitate to recommend this media
