» Nero 6

Link: Nero 6 most comprehensive versatile CD- DVD-mastering packet-writing suite market today. In fact calling a disc-authoring application a disservice because suite also offers a very capable backup program a DVD-authoring tool compares favourably professional-level competitors even a VCD/DVD movie playback program includes support MPEG-4 (the compression scheme gives near-DVD quality a CD). Toss in a slick completely configurable launch applet numerous helpful utilities a responsive bug-fix policy get a hands-down Editors' Choice. In fact Nero 6 Ultra Edition a landslide winner a few minor bugs in our pre-release version quibbles interface in modules. Still you've thinking Easy CD Creator think Nero instead. Setup & interface Installing Nero 6 Ultra Edition takes 10 minutes (plus reboot time) requires 220MB disk space. Unfortunately wade separate installation routines three programs: NeroVision Express 2.0 (movie authoring) Nero Mix MP3 (an MP3 ripper) InCD 4.0 (a packet-writing program). We'd prefer a set-it-and-forget-it install routine everything in suite. Taking a page out Easy CD Creator's book Nero 6 Ultra Edition includes StartSmart a window offers access suite's numerous components. can even configure show only programs commonly use Easy CD Creator allows. StartSmart also let know when an update any suite's modules available direct Web site downloading. Nero 6 Ultra's interface pleasing eye easy use although we did notice text messages labels truncated when we our Windows display driver large fonts (125 percent 120dpi). One our few complaints concerns BackItUp backup utility NeroVision Express 2.0. Although easy use highly capable force a step-by-step process could annoy frustrate experienced users. We're also still waiting single-pane tunnelling browser disc layout windows in Nero Burning ROM we put our wish list in our review Nero 5.5. In new incarnation Nero Burning ROM gets a mild facelift larger icons comprehensive pop-up tool tips other tweaks; Nero Express remains easy-to-use program always been; InCD 4.0 new features under surface better support. three stable mature programs remain our favourites. top old standbys Nero 6 Ultra Edition adds new Nero Vision Express 2 movie-authoring application BackItUp backup utility. extremely powerful considering they're just parts an inexpensive software suite. Nero Vision Express 2 unlike difficult-to-use underpowered predecessor one most competent movie-authoring programs we've seen rivalling Pinnacle Studio 8 in capabilities beating handily in performance. program supports motion menu buttons (small snippets movies play scene-selection button) even background menu screen can a movie. other modules in suite Vision Express 2 relies solely a step-by-step wizard-style interface quickly becomes tedious constricting when know you're doing. example can't preview creation except advancing screen screen preview pane. We'd see shortcuts here there. Nero's new BackItUp backup utility works a charm; can back up restore well schedule backups specific intervals. BackItUp isn't mature Stomp's BackUp MyPC offers everything most users need: compression disc spanning scheduling. even throws in straight file copying quick everyday backups most important files. Nero 6 Ultra Edition also includes two audio-editing applications -- Nero Wave Editor SoundTrax. Nero Wave Editor offers classic approach sound editing: can trim graphical WAV files apply effects normalise volume then listen result. SoundTrax other hand lets splice together audio files then listen effects EQ volume changes applied in real time non-destructively; real changes aren't applied until save resulting file. SoundTrax crashed when we tried import a 32-bit WAV file (the vast majority WAV files 16-bit). We did inform Ahead Software problem only professionals (who probably prefer a higher-end editor anyway) likely encounter it. suite also includes Nero Mix a MusicMatch-esque MP3 player/ripper/burner does job nicely. audio thing only professional-level programs offer functionality. rogerstation_2k2 Got discs just morning i've just finished up burning testing them. Hardware: Pioneer 105 Firmware 1.30 Pentium III 600 256MB SDRAM ::Win2k3 Server ::Nero Burning Rom V5.10.35 Xbox V1.1 (modified) EvoX D.6 Bios Samsung DVD Drive Media: ::: Disc 1 ::: Burnout 2 - Xbox (Downloaded ISO) 2932MB Burnt 4x Time burning: 10:18 inspection disc i nothing wrong a perfect purple surface. burn process there errors recording buffer didn't fluctuate beyond 91-97% way so there was chance a buffer underrun. I've now tested game my xbox works flawlessly tried booting 5 times loaded everytime. plays smoothly a delightful suprise i my console doesn't sound an airplane taking off when reading disc unlike other media i've 4x. ::: Disc 2 ::: Midnight Club 2 - Xbox (Downloaded ISO) 3228MB Burnt 4x Time burning: 11:16 I did find minor scuff marks disc seemed quite unnoticable dust had gathered surface i left my desk so i tried clean ol' shirt rub got rid dust a few minor marks surface. burn process had errors speed stayed constant throughout although i cant comment recording buffer becuase i was too much fun playing burnout 2. game booted flawlessly 5 times out 5 plays smoothly fmv sequences in game (which aplenty) play very jaggedly sound skipping out quite a lot may due scuff marks fast burn speed. So other burn was pretty much perfect. In conclusion disc burns well 4x console games may a little temperamental when comes minor scratches may an isolated case could explained a number other reasons (e.g. bad rip fast burn) so i wouldn't rely my testimony alone. Despite fact burns fast had errors played well (not mention quietly) i think i'd personally stick brand i'm currently since i'm quite ready investment 100 discs a media i'm 100% about. maybe 10 20 positive reviews i could won over

Test Disc 2 Burnt a 4.35gb film 4x taking just over 15 minutes. Graph in Nero CD-speed (using Pioneer A05) was perfect - nice straight gradual curve very minor imperfections curve - A result I've yet find a good discs I've used. Playback was flawless Ronin dvd player fast chapter skip fast forward/rewind. stuttering/skipping. Pioneer 120 dvd-rom didn't disc taking a long time spin up very stuttered playback. A05 had problems playing back disc. Conclusion: discs very high quality results show that. fact doesn't read back in Pioneer 120 doesn't concern me much I've had other discs wouldn't read in perfect. I've had a few discs before test had varied results being able burn 2x only playback in any device was main problem them. I can only hope test discs problems sorted. I think current pricing discs fair falling midway Princo 4x Ritek 4x discs I see fall before commiting buying more. an excellent job there cheaper alternatives job just well - lower quality affecting operation disc. Doop! Received mine yesterday burnt a couple movies System: Athlon XP 2800+ 1gb 2700 DDR 200gb Maxtor 8mb Cache Sony DRU-500A 2.0f firmware Nero 5.5.10.35 Disk 1 was a self rip Fight Club. Burnt in Nero 4x took 30mins write so I assume was only actually written 2x. Plays fine in my lite-on 165 DVD-ROM my Pioneer 340 Standalone player. Disk 2 again was a self rip Go Nero @ 4x still took 30minutes complete so another 2x burn. Again also played fine in my players. Conclusion: Doesn't seem burning @ 4x in a Sony drive finished result a high standard. There disks write @ 4x in a Sony so maybe 01ne disk happy burning 2x disk can faulted. P.S. thanks allowing me take part in test

Disc 2 - burnt an XBox image was just over 4gb. again burnt in 15 minutes 4x. disc loaded up played fine in my XBox disc reading was fairly quick similar other DVDR discs. Conclusion - discs seem okay i prefer try before giving a firm conclusion one worked perfectly other didn't. price i probably continue Datawrite reds given me problems.

the meister Discs arrived morning well packaged in individual sleeves looked ok first glance free any scratches inspection i edge discs very shabby indeed full lumps bumps. hardware burnt gigabyte ga 7dxe xp 2000 512 2100 ddr promise ata133 raid card 20 gig seagate 40gig seagate 80 gig seagate lite 165h dvdrom 2x lite 48x24x48 cdrw pioneer 105 dvdrw disc 1 burnt donnie darko 4.4 gig in 15 mins tested in musteks arent fussy i put in film pixelates breaks up 20 mins end eventually locks up. disc 2 burnt a girl wants 4.2 gig in 15 mins tested in players freezes 2 mins playing i since re done films onto my normal discs play faultlessly. so unfortunately i can only negative thoughts discs. discs a batch code :- A3VL3303E183. I havent bothered running nero cd speed wont play in my dvd players much consolation my dvdrom reads so in bin gone.

LoneGun Recieved my 2 discs morning Spec: AMD XP2700+ RAM: 512mb PC3200 Writer: NEC ND1300a Firmware: Herrie's 1.02 FW Reader: Creative Labs PC-DVD 5x Software: Stomp RecordNow MAX Disc 1: Fly copy Gangs New York Write Time: 15:27 Flawless playback problems chapter skipping worked perfectly my DVD-Rom Drive XBOX standalone Disc 2: Image Write midtown Madness 3 Write time: 14:31 Worked perfectly my playback experienced none choppiness sound pauses when bulkpaq greens. recommend discs good quality output writing 4x. I've got 100 way me dp

kopyo Pioneer 105 F/W 1.30 Athlon 2500+ Asus A7N8X-Deluxe 512 PC3200 ram Disk 1+2 burnt a backup gladiator DVD's Tested DVD players: Sony Yamada disks worked advertised I'm very happy let's hope price also me happy. 0ne dvd-r very good i buying when i next require disks

riget Got disc's Saturday Disc 1 Filled mp3 4x Disc 2 burnt a film 4x Useing pioneer 105 disc's work my pc my Pacific dvd player. Conclusion my results above I think disc's a top seller price kept competative.

robg1701 Discs arrived morning. inspection writing surfaces in perfect condition a uniform dye throughout disc blotches (this was quite easy see was helped fact discs quite translucent when placed infront a light source daylight window distant lightbulb). mentioned already sithlord meister edge discs farly bumpy. comparing an 80p disc (princo) suggested sithlord i note whilst bumpy edge disc null material before writing surface princod so im sure much an issue. Certainly in my 105 lite well standalone signs(sounds) poor balance observed. discs belinged batch A3VL3303E173 rest sequence i assume a disc number differing only 1 in final digit suggesting sequential production examples. Drives Used: Pioneer 105 (v1.30 Official) Lite LTD163D (VGHR3) Yamada DVD-2100 Disc1: A 4.36GB film was burned RecordNow MAX 4speed. Time complete was 15minutes verification passed successfully. playback in yamada everythign was fine quick load times fast chapter skips playback ot end disc. Nero cd speed tests Lite yielded positive initial results pernickity finishing results quite typical LTD163D i average read speeds in line normal. Disc2: A 4.35GB film before 4 speed in RNM taking 15minutes passing successfully a verification run. one seemed exhibit a slight delay in loading in Yamada checking original exhibits exact behaviour seems somthing disc player time just a minimal 0.5sec delay obviously attributal disc. Testing in lite yielded similar results smooth curve initially a couple ripples then a shaky finish rea speeds in line normal. Conclusion: A decent discat a decent price(£1.03) falling princos G04's. I ordered 25 testing before making my mind up sure ill obviously add any findings here in case contrary ive said here. In terms aesthetics i find disc nice enough looking although im too keen surface itself quite clingy susceptible fingerprints something i consider very much secondary discs performance was spot
