4.) Blu-ray Disc Writing

You've got HD footage...
You've edited your footage and kept it in HD...

And now you can output and burn it to Blu-ray Disc (BDAV) to archive, share, and watch your video in glorious high definition! The built in Blu-ray Disc Writing tool lets you burn your edited MPEG video to single or dual layer Blu-ray Disc.

What will you do with Blu?

  • Blu-ray discs must be BD-RE Ver2.1, BD-R Ver1.1/1.2 or higher.

  • BD-RE Ver1.0 discs are not supported.

  • Requires a Blu-ray (BD-R/BD-RE) write-capable drive.

  • This software cannot create a menu.

  • Imported video must conform to BDAV specifications for BDAV output.

Blu-ray Disc Writing is here!

5.) Easy DVD Authoring

Along with the ability to burn to Blu-ray Disc, outputting and burning to DVD is now also possible. You can even create a simple DVD menu with the push of a button.

  • DVD writing-capable drive required.

  • The DVD menu design is predetermined and cannot be changed.

  • Imported video must conform to DVD-Video specifications for DVD-Video output.

6.) HDV Camcorder Capture

Now you can capture video directly from your HDV camcorder. Just plug your camcorder into your computer via an IEEE 1394/i.LINK interface and TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 3 will be able to view the camcorder's contents and add it as a source file. (Does not support AVCHD format.)

7.) Add Video Transition Effects

TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 3 offers the possibility to create a video transition effect between clips. Now there are more than 170 different effects available through the new and improved Transition Editor window.

With so many transition effects, it can be hard to find the one you're looking for, so we've created a special transition selector option where you can search for a transition by categories or attributes such as hard edge, dissolves, and more!

Choose from over 170 incredible video transition effects!

8.) Ultra-High-Speed Thumbnail Navigation

You shouldn't have to wait for video thumbnails to catch up to you, so our new Ultra-High-Speed thumbnail display lets you navigate within a clip with a never before seen speed. By relegating most of the display processing to the video card instead of the central processor, the new Ultra-High-Speed thumbnail navigation achieves an incredible surge in performance and ease of use.

9.) Cut-Editor Tool Tabs

Since you may not need all of the cut-edit tools at the same time, we added a small and very convenient option: the "Tool Tab". By clicking on a Tool Tab you can hide or display almost any Cut-Editor tool set, letting you organize your workspace in a simple and efficient way. It's great for making more room to see your HD footage!

10.) Smart Rendering

Smart Rendering makes the editing process faster and easier by only re-encoding the surrounding frames versus the entire movie. Now you don’t have to wait to re-encode the whole movie for every little cut that is made.

11.) Smart Scene Search

Smart Scene Search in TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 3 is now even easier!

How it works: in the Cut-Edit window, simply click on the High-Speed Thumbnail Preview toolbar with your middle mouse button to automatically find the next or previous scene! The software can detect scene changes based on the composition of each frame. Search smarter, not harder with Smart Scene Search!

12.) Fit-to-Disc Transcoding

Video too big? Media too small? After you’re done editing your digital video, you can specify your desired file output size while keeping your video’s original quality. Make sure your videos fit onto your favorite media without compromising the quality of your High Definition or standard definition video with Fit-to-Disc Transcoding.

13.) VRCopy

TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 3 fully supports DVD-RAM thanks to the included VRCopy application (powered by Panasonic; Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.). You can now import your footage, edit, and write straight back to your DVD-RAM disc, all within one program. A great feature if you've got a DVD recorder!

The included VRCopy utility helps import and export DVD-RAM content.

14.) Apply Audio Filters

In the Clip Editor window, you can apply audio filters to enhance or adjust the audio of your clip. Choose from Audio Noise Reduction, Volume Adjustment, Audio Fade-In/Fade-Out, and Bilingual.
