Pioneer launches
its new multiple format DVD writer the DVR-109. This new model
supports 16x write speeds on both DVD-R/+R* along with the
capability to write at 6x speed on DVD-R/+R Double/Dual Layer
media** . This extends Pioneer's track record of establishing
key performance benchmarks when introducing new DVD writers.
With the facility to write 4.7GB of data to write-once media in
approx. seven minutes, or store up to 8.5GB on Double Layer
media, the DVR-109 enhances a wide range of DVD applications
including the authoring, editing and storing of video files,
developing digital music catalogues, building image libraries
and backing up data.
1.Liquid Crystal Tilt / Thickness Compensator
Provides accurate, reliable READ/WRITE performance with a
variety of disc characteristics. The Liquid Crystal Tilt
Compensator is an ideal solution for irregularly curved,
thin/thick, and double layer discs.
2.Smart Laser Driver
Smart Laser Driver: Write strategy control circuitry
positioned in close proximity to the writing laser limits signal
delay, allowing high quality recording at high speed.

Cautions
- 1 DVD-R Version 2.0 for Gerenal only
- 2 Media specific feature. Use speed
certified media. An 80 wire IDE cable is required to
achieve maximum writing speed
- 3 DVD+R Double Layer Media
Notes:
. Specific application program(s)
that support above format(s) required.
. Supported
media required for specific DVD & CD writing speeds.
. To perform DVD writing at 12x or 16x speeds, use
Pioneer-designate disc media.
Regarding
DVD-R Dual Layer / 8X DVD+RW support
DVD-R
Dual Layer is a write once media format with the
capacity to write up to 8.5 GB to two layers.
The
DVD-R Dual Layer format is being discussed in the DVD
Forum.
The DVD+RW 8x format is being discussed in the
+RW alliance.
DVD-R Dual Layer/8X DVD+RW support will
be available via firmware update after each format has
been officially released.
RPC setting
The DVR-109 includes Regional Playback Control(RPC Phase
II Mode). Region changes can be
made up to five(5)
times including the initial setting. Be aware that the
fifth(5th) change will be
PERMANENT. Therefore,
please use caution when changing the region code on the
DVR-109
The method of changing the region code number
may vary on the decoder or operating system used.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT:
To achieve the specified writing and reading
performance it is important that the DVR-109 is
connected to the IDE port via an 80 way ribbon cable and
that the IDE port is at least UDMA 66 or above.
